Events

The jam sessions will feature a house band and curated jazz repertoire. Each session will be themed to focus on the music and legacy of a jazz artist; musicians are encouraged to play a tune written by that artist. A different jazz artist will be announced a week ahead of time to give musicians time to learn and explore that artist’s music. We invite musicians of all levels and ages to join each session. Non-performing patrons are also invited to attend and watch each session.

Marilyn Coppola and Mary Day -separate musicians for years have joined forces to combine their strengths to create a fun, creative , danceable, sing-a-long, duo that does all different genres, including Classic Rock, Country and Ol' School.

Rugburn is a seven-piece, high-energy party and cover band playing a wide range of music across all genres, including funk, dance, pop and classic rock ’n’ roll. Their setlist spans everyone from James Brown and Bruce Springsteen to Bruno Mars—and beyond.

Having just celebrated their 20-year anniversary, Rugburn plays regularly throughout Rhode Island and Southern New England, and has performed as far away as Rome, Italy and Key West, Florida.

Shawnn Monteiro | Premier Jazz Vocalist

Shawnn Monteiro is an acclaimed jazz vocalist known for her captivating style, soulful phrasing, and blues-infused improvisations. She has performed throughout the U.S. and Europe, sharing the stage with jazz legends including Clark Terry, Lionel Hampton, Ray Brown, Benny Golson, Stanley Jordan, and many others.

The daughter of renowned Duke Ellington bassist Jimmy Woode and goddaughter of jazz great Clark Terry, Shawnn’s musical roots run deep. Early in her career, she toured with legendary percussionist Mongo Santamaria, performing alongside Celia Cruz, the Fania All-Stars, and Weather Report.

In addition to performing, Shawnn is a respected jazz educator who has taught at Rhode Island College and the Hartt School of Music. Since 1995, she has taught an annual Master Vocal Class in Italy, and most recently taught a master class at Berklee College of Music.

André Ward is an acclaimed saxophonist known for his dynamic blend of smooth jazz, R&B, funk, and soul. A Chicago native and graduate of Berklee College of Music, André has toured and performed with celebrated artists including Lalah Hathaway, Will Downing, and Freddie Jackson, spending nine years on tour with Jackson and four years as his musical director. As a solo artist, André has achieved Top 10 Contemporary Jazz chart success, captivating audiences with his soulful melodies, smooth grooves, and energetic stage presence.
