Band Member Bios:

Roger Ceresi’s musical journey began at age five living in the projects and then nurtured by his grandparents to turn his dreams of performing into reality. He transitioned from trumpet to drums, then piano, voice and composition while studying at Rhode Island College and Berkelee College of Music. From Boston to Los Angeles, his musical odyssey led him through diverse genres and collaborations, culminating in the formation of “Roger Ceresi’s All Starz,” where his soulful leadership shines alongside a talented ensemble. With boundless energy and passion, Roger continues to craft electrifying performances, a testament to a lifetime devoted to the power of music.

John DeBossu plays double bass and electric bass – performing jazz, rock, and classical music in the Rhode Island area and stages across New England.  John studied classical bass while living in Geneva, Switzerland and performed in France and Switzerland in various jazz groups. After moving to the Boston area, he studied with Miroslav Vitous, the founding bass player of Weather Report. John regularly plays jazz and swing in the New Providence Big Band, Gypsy Jazz and contemporary jazz bands in the Rhode Island area.

Phil Gruppuso, a longtime veteran of the Providence music scene, has played piano with many local jazz and blues musicians, both as a side man and leader. Currently, he plays keys for the blues/R&B group, The Automatics and plays piano for The New Providence Big Band. His small group jazz appearances are most often with the GCD Trio. In emulating the straight-ahead sound of the ‘60s and ’70, the trio’s influences include Ramsey Lewis, Ray Charles, Gene Harris and Les McCann.

Bill Beaudoin has been a performing drummer around the RI and southern New England area for the last 55 or so years. Bill has done gigs in clubs, restaurants, concert halls, churches, musical theater and even the circus. He played drums in a jazz trio at the Arboretum restaurant for 6 years as part of the house band. In addition to drums, he plays flute and bassoon, and currently teaches band and percussion ensembles at the Gordon School and Moses Brown School. Bill plays in numerous bands of various styles, including jazz, rock and classical.
