Garry Foisy – Acoustic Guitar & Vocals
An accomplished guitarist and vocalist, Garry Foisy is a veteran to the New England music scene and is humbly proud of his music career highlights including opening for nationally touring Antigone Rising, Paul Zunno, and globally touring Peter Frampton on the Sunset Music Fest festival stage. He’s grateful to have been nominated for vocals and songwriting in the Motif Music Awards and awarded in the Stone Soup Singer-Songwriter RI Idol Competition – but views music as a subjective art of expression. Foisy currently performs throughout New England in the duo FOISY & VANDAL with singer/flutist Gretchen Vandal, and in the 70’s experience band NAMELESS.
Dave Richardson – Electric Guitar & Vocals
Nine years ago, veteran blues guitar slinger, Dave Richardson, was playing a gig in a small bar in Pawtucket, RI. What he didn’t know was that this would be no typical gig and no ordinary night. A guest vocalist walked graciously on to the stage and said, “Hi. I’m Jan Schmidt. We’re gonna do a shuffle in A. Watch me for the stops.” What began in that very moment was an alignment of voice, guitar, emotion, and energy that formed the current foundation of the Dave Richardson Band. This musical combination quickly became competent grooving on New Orleans Funk, Texas Blues, Classic Soul and driving Rock & Roll. You can find Dave Richardson hosting and performing weekly blues & jazz series and jams, as well as performing frequently in the New England area as The Dave Richardson Band, as a duo with Jan Schmidt, and in the 70’s experience band NAMELESS.
Jan Schmidt – Vocals
A native of Rhode Island, Jan Schmidt has her bachelor’s degree in theatre arts from Emerson College in Boston and has toured world-wide as a vocal performer with thirty years of stage experience. Schmidt spent years on the west coast in LA singing, modeling, and writing, and performing in acclaimed clubs and studios. Upon returning to RI, she formed ‘Jan Schmidt and the Original Singers’ and joined ‘The Top Cats’. She was also gigging at Chans in Woonsocket, with giants like Vinnie Pagano, Marty Ballou, Joe Potenza, and Tommy Enright. Schmidt was offered and accepted a job to perform with the Big Nazo Puppet Troupe, an international performance group of visual artists, puppet-performers, and masked musicians who unite to create bizarre and hilarious larger-than-life sized characters, environments, and spectacles. Today, Jan offers performance and voice training, and provides preparation for any performance experience, be it public speaking, musical theatre, acting, singing, or band performances. She performs throughout New England as a duo with Dave Richardson, in The Dave Richardson Band, and with the 70s experience band NAMELESS.
Joe Potenza – Bass & Vocals
Joe Potenza is an accomplished and versatile bass guitarist working in the Rhode Island / Southern New England area. His musicianship, passion, and professionalism spring from years of varied musical experiences. A lifelong Rhode Islander, Potenza grew up in a musical family where his mother insisted that there always should be a piano in the house and his father supported inclinations to play by
providing the family with good instruments and encouragement. His influences include the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, John Coltrane, the Allman Brothers, Miles Davis, and Cannonball Adderley, to name a few – all the while being drawn to the foundation and pulse of the music. The natural role of bassist as a collaborator, and the legitimate role of bass in jazz music drew him in. Joe loves finding ways to fit his unique take and voice into diverse musical settings, and currently performs throughout New England with his roots-jazz band Evening Sky, The Dave Richardson Band, with many performers across multiple genres, and in the 70s experience band NAMELESS.
Nate Goncalo – Drums & Vocals
Nate Goncalo is an accomplished drummer and vocalist, melding his artistic talents into several successful bands throughout the New England area. He has composed scores for five 48 Hour Film Festival submissions, been awarded Providence’s “Best Musical Score” in 2011, and with a love for technology, enjoys the complexities of setting up and operating professional audio equipment. Nate Goncalo can be found performing throughout the region in his band Real Weird, David Tessier and the All-Star Stars, The Dave Richardson Band, Keats & Friends, Billy & The Jets, and in the 70s experience band NAMELESS.
Seth Burkhart – Drums (NOTE: Seth will be standing in for Nate Goncalo on 9/1/2023)
Born on the upper east side of Manhattan, Seth Burkhart is an extremely versatile and well-respected drummer world-wide. Throughout his 35 years of performing, Seth toured with such artists as Big Engine, Greg Baril, The Untouchables, Deborah Cox, and opened for U2, The English Beat, UB40 to name a few. Also, Seth has many recordings under his belt, among them are Brian Green, Ron Perry, The Skatterbrains, The Untouchables, Bill Gulino Trio, Max Sherman Quartet and the Opus 3 Jazz Trio. He is described as a chameleon-like player with his ability to adapt to any style of music that comes his way. Seth’s artistic playing style and innovative arrangements made him a band leader in no time, and there has been no turning back since. To this day, he is an in-demand drummer, touring, doing sessions, side projects, and production work. His current group Opus 3 Jazz Trio is busy touring full-time and recording their 3rd album, and he subs occasionally for the 70s experience band NAMELESS.
