La Méchante et le Connard – French cabaret comes to the Blue Room!

Hailing from Sancerre, France, the French musical sensation, La Méchante et le Connard will perform a full cabaret show on August 8 at the Blue Room. Expect the works: music, jokes, sparkles, wigs and eyelashes.
La Méchante et le Connard are a Franco-American duo of ukulele, double bass and voice… did you say ukulele? Yes, ukulele. Unique arrangements and fresh takes on jazz age standards, French classics and modern hits, sprinkled with a few stories and a lot of laughs.
Casey grew up in Middletown, RI and moved to Paris to study classical saxophone at the conservatory. About 2 seconds after finishing her degree, she realized there was not a dime to be made playing Rachmaninov on a saxophone, no matter how cool that made her. Luckily, she had a good ear and strong pipes, so singing came as a natural next step.
Cyril came from a musical family, growing up listening to Baroque music until he discovered the holy grail of rock. There was no looking back. He dove into music, twisting and turning and absorbing everything and every genre he could get his ears on.
Casey and Cyril met in the Paris suburbs, teaching at the same music school. The duo took to the streets, the first weeks playing the few songs they knew until they had enough change for a semi-decent bottle of wine. They upgraded to cafés and before they knew it, they were playing the Cannes Film Festival (and drinking decidedly better wine!) Life’s twists and turns soon found them settled in Sancerre, France with their 3 children and performing in the wonderful Cabaret Sancerrois, a full french cabaret with sequins, feathers, music, dancers, acrobats and boobies.
